Transfer of embryos is the last step of treatment in IVF treatment. When the embryos reach the 2-8-cell stage, after 48-72 hours the incubation is transferred to the uterus. The embryo is planted between 2-6 days.
The procedure should be performed with a complete bladder. Under the supervision of ultrasound from the abdominal cavity, a predetermined number of embryos are inserted into the uterus by using a catheter. The transfer of embryos is not a painful procedure and does not require anesthesia. After the procedure, hormonal preparations are prescribed to the patient in the form of injections, suppositories or creams. At the onset of pregnancy, treatment continues until the tenth week of pregnancy. If there is no pregnancy and menstrual bleeding begins, the treatment is stopped with the onset of bleeding. The patient is offered a pregnancy test on the 12th day after embryo transfer. In case of a positive result, the blood test is repeated two days later.
After embryo transfer, the patient can return to normal life and rest. However, it is recommended that the patient after the procedure do not perform hard work for 3-4 days.
There is a direct relationship between the number of transferred embryos and the clinical indicators of pregnancy. The best results are obtained by transferring 2-4 embryos. When more than two embryos are transferred, the frequency of multiple pregnancies is quite high
